If the Weather Had Been
We often overlook the quiet influence of the sky above us—the way rain cancels plans, sunshine lifts spirits, or fog blurs decisions. But what if a single change in the weather had altered the course of our lives?
Imagine that morning: instead of gray clouds and drizzle, the sun rose clear and warm. You might have taken a different route to work, met someone new at the café, or simply felt brave enough to say yes to an opportunity you later declined.
This is not mere fantasy. Small shifts—like a canceled flight due to snow or a picnic postponed by thunder—ripple outward. They delay encounters, redirect choices, and sometimes rewrite entire chapters. The weather, indifferent and impartial, becomes an unwitting author of fate.
“If the weather had been…” is a phrase that lingers in the mind like mist after dawn. It carries regret, curiosity, and wonder all at once. And though we cannot rerun time with clearer skies, we can honor those moments by noticing the present—and the sky above it.
