“on doing sth” 表示 “一……就……” 的用法

什么是 “on doing sth”？

在英语中，“on + 动名词（doing）” 结构常用来表示某个动作“一发生，就……”，相当于中文里的“一……就……”。 这里的 on 是介词，不是连词，因此后面必须接动名词（即动词的 -ing 形式），不能接句子。

基本结构

on + doing something

例如：

• On hearing the news, she burst into tears.（她一听到这个消息，就哭了起来。）
• On arriving at the station, he called me.（他一到车站就给我打了电话。）
• On seeing the snake, the child screamed.（孩子一看到蛇就尖叫起来。）

注意事项

• “on doing” 强调两个动作几乎同时发生，且第一个动作是第二个动作的直接触发条件。
• 不能写成 on do something 或 on he does something，因为 on 是介词。
• 可与 as soon as、the moment (that) 等引导的时间状语从句互换，但结构不同。

✅ 正确：On hearing the sound, he ran away.
