Once Upon a Time...
In a faraway kingdom, there lived a beautiful but spoiled princess. She loved playing with her golden ball more than anything in the world.
One day, while playing near a deep, green pond, she accidentally dropped her ball into the water. She cried and cried because she couldn’t reach it.
Suddenly, a frog popped his head out of the water and said, “I can help you, Princess—but only if you promise to be my friend!”
The Promise
The princess didn’t really want a frog as a friend, but she was desperate. “Yes, yes! I promise!” she said quickly.
The frog dived into the pond and brought back her golden ball. The princess grabbed it and ran back to the castle without a word.
That evening, as the royal family sat down to dinner, there was a knock at the door. “Open up! You promised to be my friend!” called the frog.
